The guest bedroom has a queen sized bed, in-suite bath room including separate shower and bath tub and walk-in closet. The guest quarters also include a living room and kitchen. Tours of the entire house are available only to our rental guests between the hours of 5 - 7 pm. There may be some variability on weekends, so please confirm with Peter Plunkett when your tour will take place. Guests are free to walk around the grounds of the entire lot and through the entire guest area at any time during their stay. You might enjoy examining the Webster Electric 'Teletalk' intercom system that is hardwired throughout the entire house. There are 3 base stations, one at the head of the stairs, one in the master bedroom and one in the guest living room. All of the bedrooms and the garage have an intercom as well. Although not operational at this time, we plan to renovate the system in the future. The house was designed only for floor heat, however, that was not acceptable to Mr. Elam who demanded that a forced air heating system be added as well. The large 'Kewanee' boilers (there are two of them) and the huge air circulation system are really something to see. The original Hammond organ installed by Elam still remains in the main living room and will be restored as well. Of course, we are sure you will be 'Wowed' by the three floor to ceiling fireplaces that are in the house. Frank Lloyd Wright always liked a good fireplace that the family could relax and unwind by. As much as possible, we are striving to restore our beautiful home to its original splendor. We hope you enjoy staying in it as much as we enjoy living in it!

A year-round cabin nestled in an oak grove on the banks of a spring-fed lake (one of only two in Southern Minnesota). With 200 feet of lakeshore on a double lot, the cabin has plenty of room to play yard games, throw the football/frisbee around, or sit by the campfire and gaze at the lake. A 30 foot long deck spans the width of the cabin on the edge of a small bank which provides fantastic lake views, and still leaves only 16 steps from cabin to waters edge. HOME OF THE GRAND MADISON LAKE PADDLE FISH State of Minnesota issued a seizure permit #202888 for us to be able to keep the skull and a replica of the fish. This skeleton of a paddle fish washed up on Madison Lake beach in 1989. From this skeleton the folks at Shedd Aquarium in Chicago and the Missouri Game and Fish department provided their best estimate of weight over 100 lbs, length 68 inches, and age approximately 35 years old. Paddle fish are plankton eaters with no teeth and are harmless to humans and illegal to catch in Minnesota. Lots of off street parking for all your water toys! 150 lineal feet of sandy beach with over hanging willow trees to hold the pan fish close for shore fishing. We are in the process of building a sand box for when the water levels are high and our beach is under water. Our fish cleaning shed with screens, light, and water as well as a space to keep your gear locked up over night (bring your own padlock) is now finished! We have two boating docks available! The boat ramp is a short drive around the bay to the south. For our fellow artists we have set up a bright classroom area facing Madison Lake. Comfortable, warm and inviting-- all in an excellent location. This completely remodeled farmhouse is located on almost 8 wooded acres just a few short minutes from downtown Mankato. In the warm months, cross the street and find yourself on miles of walking, running and biking trails connected to the Red Jacket Trail system. Head down the road 1/2 a mile and spend the weekend mountain biking at Mt Kato or pack your kayak or canoe and make your way to the Blue Earth River just a mile down the road. Grab the family and visit any number of the many recreational lakes in the area, several within 20 minutes of the house. Or stay home, grill and eat out on the patio and catch fireflies in the yard. In the winter months, watch the downhill skiers and snowboarders ski the front side of Mt Kato from your living room window while comfortably nestled in front of a warm pellet stove, or hit the slopes yourself! Snowshoe or cross country ski along the trails… or stay home and enjoy the peace and comfort that this home provides. Soak in the antique clawfoot tub situated in front of the picture window looking out over woods. Watch the hawks and deer in the backyard. Whip up a delicious dinner in the custom kitchen, utilizing the ample soapstone countertops and butcher block island. Or start a fire in the easy-to-use wood pellet fireplace and spend the evening reading, watching a movie, or enjoying time with those you love. We now have an on-site caretaker who lives part time in a separate apartment, with a separate entrance, in the lower level/basement of the house (pictures of this space not posted on this website). The caretaker will mostly stay out of your way unless you need something, like a bonfire built, a restaurant recommendation or help booking a local outfitter for a river adventure. OPTIONAL: The basement is also available to rent for an additional cost of $100/night. The basement includes another BR with a king-sized bed. There is another full-sized bed in an open area. This space also includes a kitchenette with microwave, toaster oven, sink, coffee pot and a full-sized fridge. There is a bathroom in the basement which includes a shower. A bar and rec room that includes a ping pong table and electronic dart board finish out the rest of the basement. Attached to the house is deck and one car garage. The driveway is wide enough for three cars (street parking also available). The Lake House is a short walk from the Dairy Freeze (ice cream parlor), Deep Freeze (cafe), Grafitti Corner (coffee and frozen yogurt shop), the Aquatic Park (Fairmont's waterpark) and local watering holes (Jesse's Smokehouse, The Channel Inn and Ambiance). Our vacation home can be your vacation home! It is a 1 story 2 bedroom home with full kitchen, living room, and full bath. There is a queen bed in 1 bedroom and 2 full size (1 being a futon) and 1 twin in the other. There is also a washer and dryer, hair dryer, hair straightener, as well as television, cable, and Wi-Fi available. There are concrete steps down to the dock that has a bench. The basement is currently unfinished.
